The wonderful world of the Ashy Mining Bee

Ashy mining bees (Andrena cineraria) are solitary bees which make volcanoes in the soil/ground and they have been known to close this entrance over when they’ve finished foraging for the day, and also when it rains, or if they are disturbed.

They can also be found nesting in larger groups, which I would love to see.

Seen from March to June. They feed on a variety of flowers, as shown in my photos they liked my daffodils and viola's a lot.
