Did you know there are 250 types of dandelion in the UK and you can make honey from them?
More interesting facts:
Pre 1800 people would pull up grass in there gardens and plant dandelions and other beneficial plants like camomile and chickweed.
The name comes from the French word "dent de lion" meaning lions tooth.
It has one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant.
The leaves are a great source of vitamins A, C and K, iron, calcium, magnesium and potassium and can be eaten raw or cooked.
They contain potent antioxidants, which fights against free radicals (for example: air pollution, UV radiation from the sun, smoking, alcohol, poor nutrition), which can contribute to disease development and accelerated aging.
I will continue to campaign for dandelions to celebrated as one of the UK's greatest wild flowers.
